I spent about 2 months while working only in my spare time at night and during weekends to develop a blog. It did start generating some income the last time. However, the problem was that it was quite Niche and thus I didn't see it to have a whole lot of growth over time. I was getting around 1000 hits a day and was only happy with it because it was something I could open and reference when I was playing music. Now that blog still generates some small traffic and some passive very slow income (maybe cents). However, the idea that a larger scale success can be achieved has now resided my mind since. The problem is not purely one dimensional that you just blog about the most searched term on the internet cuz that's where all the traffic is going. No! The other dimension is about how much content is currently available, meaning what competition do you have out there that you'll have to outrank in the search systems. This second factor is actually more important that the first one. For this reason, some of the blogger entrepreneurs have gotten into the root of outsourcing the content writing part of blogging and just handle the blog management.
While, this is definitely a good working business model, I don't find motivated enough (at the moment) to outsource this. The biggest reason is it defeats the purpose of blogging. For me, there are two main reasons I have become a blogger, firstly I have to be able to express myself and I have to develop my skill set so that I am good at this. The second is to get a sense of independence which surely won't be possible if one outsources the thing. I am kind of a control freak I know and delegation has been a problem for me, but this time its a conscious decision and maybe business-wise a bad one to be writing all the blogs myself. Maybe this will take a lot more time to reach my goals as a blogger. But when I do get there I'm sure I'll be a more satisfied soul.

I also feel that once I have to go through this whole process myself to be able to understand. Like in any other profession, you have to start as a junior, you have to do all the dirty work to really understand the nitty-gritties of the business and once you do and you have gained enough experience you are eligible to take up leadership positions. Why won't the same rule apply to blogging? I think it would. So, I chose to take up this longer tougher path and hope to still reach my destination at the end.
